Miramar proudly welcomes the Navy Flight Demonstration
Squadron, The Blue Angels, back to Miramar for the 2008 MCAS
Miramar Air Show, which will take place October 3, 4, and
5th.The
Blue Angels released their 2008 show schedule during the
International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas
last week.
“We are
excited about having the Blue Angels back as our marquee
event. They represent the rich heritage of Naval
Aviation.,” said Col Chris O’Connor, MCAS Miramar’s
commanding officer.
This
elite, precision flying team takes to the skies along with
other confirmed performers including the AV-8B Harrier, the
world-famous U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the
Patriots Jet Demonstration Team, the Shockwave Triple Engine
Jet Truck, and Bill Reesman’s Red Bull MiG-17F.
"We are
extremely excited to begin our new season and represent the
Navy and Marine Corps team with a safe and exciting show for
2008," said Cmdr. Kevin Mannix, the squadron's commanding
officer.
One of San
Diego’s biggest and best known public events, the Marine
Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show, offers matinee shows
Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the
Saturday Twilight Show from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Gates open
at 8 a.m. daily.
The
Saturday Twilight Show will feature aerial pyrotechnics,
burner passes and a spectacular fireworks display with the
popular grand finale, The Great Wall of Fire.
