The B-52 Stratofortress
May 9th 1961, first B-52 H delivered to SAC at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Mich.
As the B-52 rolled of the Boeing production line it began its vigilant patrol of
the skies giving the USA a significant edge, first in the battle of the Cold
War, The Vietnam Conflict, Operation Desert Storm, and she continues her duty to
this day.
The B-52 has been a major part of history for almost 50 years
now. Of the 744 planes built since 1951 approximately 100 still remain in service
today.

Cross Wind Landing Control
Landing the B-52 under any sort of adverse condition was the most demanding part
of many missions. With the CWLC the pilot was capable of literally crabbing the
plane sideways and bringing it in at a 20-degree angle!
